I know this isn't a brand new thing, but I happened to order a few things on Amazon this morning and it popped up that delivery was guaranteed today. I placed my order around 11:30am and the stuff was delivered around 6:00pm. It just amazes me that they are able to do that, do it for free, and still offer the best prices around. What a remarkable business model. It certainly makes me want to keep shopping with them (not that I needed another reason).

With all the reviews that I do for them, it is like perpetual Christmas here but I don't like Sunday deliveries as they are not my regular mail people and leave packages all over. I am surprised at how quickly things show up. Sometimes in a day or two. Funny on the Amazon Forum, someone was spouting off about the dumb people that are signed up for Prime and they don't know how much money they aren't saving! Between what I order personally, what I order for work and what my son orders, we more than earn our Prime fee back.
steve. If you have Prime shipping with Amazon, when your daughter moves out, she can still use your Prime membership at her own place as well. We will never get one-day delivery in our area though as we live in the country and the closest big 'city' nearby is an armpit of the nation types.

* Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
* Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
* There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

Same-day delivery? Ha! I'd be happy to get same-week delivery! I'm sure it has to do with logistics bundling or something, but nothing ever ships up here to Alaska faster than 1-2 weeks. What's infuriating is that they don't even ship it for the first 4-7 days, them it'll get here with just 3-4 days of transit.

The main benefit I get from Prime is the free shipping regardless of order size (which is still slightly faster than normal shipping... 7-10 days vs. 14+ days), along with the video stuff (ex: our son loves Daniel Tiger, which is available free with Prime, among other shows/movies). Besides, I share the Prime account with my brothers, and they get more use of it.Steve

I think early on, some sellers would put that in their selling TOS and newbies would see and follow that bad example and it continues on. But anything going a distance should be packed, ASAP and get it out the door.
