  • What disposable items to you buy?

I was making a list of disposable things I buy to see if I should buy more permanent altrnatives. This is my list:

    razor blades
batteries for a lot of electronics
Flowers (for my girlfriend -- a plant just doesn't seem the same as a bouquet)
    napkins
cups / plastic bottles (I need to get a good water bottle)
    contact lenses

What are some of the disposable things you buy?

Tissues, toilet paper, paper towels, diaper wipes, aluminum foil and plastic wrap, dryer sheets, plastic utensils.

Probably the latest disposable item I started using a lot are those thin disposable Nitrile gloves. I use them for painting, working on engines, chopping garlic, cleaning, picking up dog poop, etc. They are very inexpensive, save me from having to use lots of paper towels and soap and water, and also keep my hands from getting stinky or dry. I usually get a box of 100 at Harbor Freight for about $8 and love them.

Just your basic stuff like tp, facial tissues, razors.

I carry two Thermoses for work, one for coffee and one for water, so that cuts down on water bottles. We use cloth napkins that are easy care.

Toilet paper, paper towels, dinner napkins (though we use cloth at home), and at once time, sanitary napkins/pads.

Tissues, toilet paper, uh, that's all I can think of. There must be more though. Cotton swabs? There is an emergency stash of paper plates, but they've been in the kitchen for years unopened. I hate taking out the trash, so I try not to create too much of it. Plus, I really do try to keep use of disposables low.

Oh, thank you, Joan.of.the.Arch! Yes, cotton swabs, too!
