  • What's your favorite money saving app?

I love the joinhoney app. Basically, it already has all the online coupons that are valid listed in it for each site, so if you fo somewhere to buy something, it will try all the coupon codes to see if any work without you having to search for them yourself. I love it!

    The Amazon app.

Many times, we've been in a store, seen something we wanted, and I checked the price on Amazon (which is virtually always cheaper). I pop the item into our cart right then and there and place the order later or sometimes even right away. We've saved a ton of money doing that.

I'm surprised people find Amazon to be less expensive. I don't compare prices with Amazon often, but in my experience, Amazon is relatively expensive. I made put my baby registry on Amazon, but I found myself leaving notes all over it saying that Walmart or Toys R Us had better prices. I do love Amazon, but more for convenience and the ability to get hard to find items than for price.

I like discount gift card buying apps like Raise and SaveYa. Once I decide I'm going to spend money somewhere, I check to see if I can get a discount gift card for close to the purchase price. Then, I get the gift card delivered right to my phone. It tends to confuse some cashiers, but it can provide some nice bonus savings.

I think it depends on the item. Amazon is routinely cheaper on electronics, books, music, some health and beauty items (my wife and daughter buy their shampoo and conditioner on Amazon and save a ton), office supplies, and more. I haven't found them to have good prices on grocery items though I haven't looked lately.

My favorite is Swagbucks. I use their site to shop and get points per dollar back into my account which adds up and eventually and I get money back in my PayPal.
