  • Should I challenge my electrick bill?

I hope this is the right forum to post this.

I live in a one bed flat and usually pay about £12.00 for my electric. I have checked my bank statement recently and see they have taken £28.00 out!

Should I challenge them on this, or should I switch? I am a priority customer because I am disabled with mild learning difficulties. I haven't got anyone to help me with their letters, because everyone I ask can't help or their too damned busy to take the time to sit down with me.

Can you please advise me on this ? I am in credit to both gas and electric.

I would definitely call them and ask why there is a difference. Has anything changed?

Welcome to Saving Advice Forum. Our electric usage is higher in the winter since there are fewer hours of daylight. Has your electric supplier increased their fee for each KWH unit? Can you compare the most recent bill with the bill December 2013? Look at the each item. Have you joined their budget system where they withdraw the same amount every single month?

I would certainly call and ask why it is higher, especially if it represents a change from prior years (as snafu mentioned).

do you check the meter on a regular basis? Is this a private or public electric supplier?

            hello again

            Thanks for your replies

I rang up this morning and spoke to a lady, the last bill they sent me got lost in the post in December due to Royal mail, there have been a number of items vanishing lately due to the back log. So I was in debt without realizing it.

I would have done, but Royal mail lost my bill in the post due to the **** up at Christmas with the back log.

Is that the warm home front scheme? If so, I have.

I do every three month’s now.

Public I suppose since I rent.

So the problem is solved. It wasn't for one month, it was for two. That was easy.

Do they offer an automatic payment option like they do here in the states? That would avoid having this happen again. My gas and electric bill is automatically deducted from my bank account each month. I get a paper bill but the payment is made automatically. That way if a bill ever doesn't arrive, the payment still gets made on time.

Not sure if they do, I'm not very good with figures and numbers that's why if I'm confused I show the letter to my social worker.
