Good point. We learned that lesson with cookware. From the time we got married, we went through about 4 sets of pots and pans over the course of about 15 years. Finally, we purchased a set of Calphalon Stainless. They were rather costly compared to the other sets we had owned but it's now been 6 or 7 years (maybe more) and they still look brand new. We will likely never have to replace them. Sure beats getting a new set every 3-5 years.

Well, I don't think this is a good idea for saving money.

Well, I don't think that buying a cheap toilet paper will really save you money. It's better to have a good quality first but not that costly.

Use a bidet. Save on toilet paper and way more sanitary. Or if you don't have one, use a cup with water and dry with TP.

NO, it does not. All it does is cause chafing and you have to use more. Using more is also horrendous on the environment. I would advise you choose a brand you love and use it responsibly. Cheap toilet paper is so not the way to go.

I doubt anyone can dig themselves out of debt by buying cheap scratchy toilet paper. Just in the paper department, they could save more by using cloth napkins which can generally be reused multiple times before being thrown in with the towels in the laundry, hankies which I gaurantee are kinder to your nose, and using rags instead of paper towels. That should leave them with enough money to buy the 'good' stuff. And look for sales and the bigger packs that save per roll.

Now it is getting a bit funny, since we can't always tell if a man or woman is responding to a post. I know my mom and aunts complained when they were still living at home way way back in time (20-30') 4 sheets was the max they could use once they actually HAD TP in their home and they were all glad to be on their own to use what they needed. While I'm sure many men can get away with using only 2-3 sheets, I'm pretty sure most women can't at least older women can't. I know I use what I need to and don't use toilet paper as my way to balance my budget It is one of my few 'luxury' items.

We use Kirkland (costco) TP. It is great. Not too fluffy (to leave dust stuff flying when it is unrolled) and not too thin to break as it unrolls. It is still quite cost effective.
