Re: What age are you spending savings?

Dh wants to become a writer...they never retire. I well I don't get paid, but mothers never retire either!

Money wise, I would like DH to be able to afford to do nothing but write even if it doesn't sell by the time we get the kids out of the house (with kids in the house he would have to have enough money to go to an office to write!)

I retired at 38 from the work force but not form life. I have my own little business so yes I will be giving back to society until I die (probably around 85 or 90 )

I refuse to retire. I will work until I drop. Only when I am physically unable to work will I begin taking my minimum distribution from my IRA's.

My DH and I are at the point we should have retirement plans in place. We had to cash in all of his retirement money a few years ago to pay off some major bills. WE are slowly building it back up. We don't think we will ever retire but when we are debt free (cars only now) we plan on going on missions trips or becoming full time missionaries. This will be after the kids are in double digits I think. (at least 8 years) We figure we need to get to the point where we can live on very little (minimum wage type) so we can either work less (he can I'm still a Mom) and need less. Eventually we want to reach the point where we tithe more than we use.
