So its been about over a month now since my wife and I moved in our first house. We recently found out that our sprinkler system and driplines for planters pretty much needed to be replace. Not knowing exactly what we needed to buy I was alittle hesitant on doing it myself. I called a local company to come out and give me a free estimate. He quoted me over 600 and said it might be more because we might run into other issues plus labor. He emailed me the quote including all the parts that i needed to have replace. After a few days discussing the budget with my wife. I realize that he typed up everything i needed to fix so i went to the local home depot and purchased everything i needed.Spent 100 bucks. Spent 2 days working on the sprinklers and driplines. Long story short, everything is running smoothly. Lawns is getting even coverage. Fruit trees and plants getting hydrated now. So far so good. Plus, my wife is quite impress. Lucky me =)

Good on you for taking the challenge of DIY fitting replacements on your sprinkler system. Your efforts created a cost avoidance of at least $ 400. plus praise from wife...not at all shabby! I hope that everything else stays in working order as you adjust to the giant step into home ownership. I suggest creating a binder with a few packages of sheet protectors for 'Home Maintenance.' It's helpful to have a list of seasonal tasks to help you estimate time and costs of future projects. It's handy to keep receipts, contacts/business cards and 'how to' information corralled in one place. It helps to keep a list of plumber, electrician, repair/maintenance equipment recommendation from neighbours, colleagues and friends should they be needed.
