  • How Best to Get Insurance Quotes for Mom?

    Hi all,

My mom has been taking a hard look at some of her expenses lately, and it came up that she's had the same insurance company/agent, etc for well, ever. She doesn't even remember the last time she got a quote (to be fair, my dad handled insurance, etc and he most likely got quotes every few years, but he's been gone for over 3 years now).

She's not at all dissatisfied with her policy, and her prices aren't bad, but I think it's worthwhile to get quotes just to see.

How would you suggest going about getting quotes on her behalf? I have her permission, all of her info, and her most recent policies to make sure I am comparing apples to apples. I do have access to her email (and therefore can just pretend to be her - which is usually the system we use when I'm doing stuff for her), so I would prefer to get quotes that way only - I don't want her to be inundated with phone calls, nor do i want to get them myself.

If it makes a difference, she has her home, auto and umbrella policies all with the same company.

Thanks for any advice you can provide!

There are several websites that will give you quotes from an array of companies. Try just googling "insurance quote" and I'll bet you get some useful leads on websites.

    Good luck.

I'd start by contacting your own insurance agent with the information of her current policies to see if they can do better. Like RTW, choose some big insurance broker on-line sites to see how they compare and whether the coverage is adequate, deductible is appropriate based on mom's overall financial picture or lower than needed.

Thanks for the replies - was hoping there was a less annoying way to go about it but I guess not. I'm hopeful I can save her some money.
