  • How to get things really cheap on Craigslist

I discovered this a few months ago and I have been able to get some great stuff for my place at huge discounts. If you are looking to get really great deals on stuff, search "Divorce" on Craigslist. People that are selling stuff due to a divorce are usually looking to get rid of the stuff quickly and aren't usually concerned about the price. Often times the stuff is practically new.

I have gotten some dressers and throw rugs for about 75% off. Lots of other stuff for more than 50% off. It does take some time to look as there can be a lot of random stuff, but a lot of times there isn't a lot of competition because all the stuff is lumped together. I have to be careful not to buy things I don't need just because of the good price.

Thought I'd pass it along for those who might be looking for a deal or want to make some extra money. I'm sure there are more keywords like "divorce" that most people don't search but bring up good deals, but that's the best I've found so far.

Oh, I like that tip and will try it.

Ironically, the word "wedding" keeps appearing in the ads for something I'm looking for on Craigslist and people are asking prices as if the items were new. In fact some ask more than new price.

What have I been looking for? Canning jars! Evidently, people are using them in table decorating at their wedding receptions. Some are under the impression that with a grosgrain or burlap bow glued on the jar's value jumps to $3-4 each.
