Geez! It gets expensive to ship all that stuff in from the mainland. I've heard they don't grow much there anymore, because the land is worth too much to "waste" on agriculture.

If I lived in Hawaii, I'd be a prepper, for sure

Does amazon prime ship to Hawaii? That would work for the cereal and a lot of other perishables.

I have no idea how much boxed cereals or coffee creamers cost elsewhere, but I do know the cost of eggs varies a lot according to season. Surely eggs are not "imported" to Hawaii, are they?

How does pay compare to prices?

I dont think its any secret that food prices are high in Hawaii...and that there is a high concentration of homeless people. If you become homeless hawaii isnt a bad place to be! In some sections they take over the entire beach...tent cities. If anyone visits oahu...head to the west side of the island...tent city after tent city...a real nice beach at the end of the road though thats never busy (and the homeless arent down that far so no worry about them.)

I pay same or more for eggs in NYC ( though ones i buy are organic). Other pictured things are processed food products I'm not interested in. How are tropical fruit prices in Hawaii? Is there anything locally produced?

fresh produce is the highest, i bought an auntie a head of cabbage $1.39/lb, 2# sack of carrots for $2.89 and just over a pound of green beans for $3.57

even the locally grown stuff is really high

now i know why all my cousins went to college and have great jobs
