How much does procrastination cost you?

This is another one of those New Year musing that floating around in my head. I'm a procrastinator. I get the thing done that I need to get done, but I tend to leave them rather than take care of them right away. I've been thinking about it and wondering how much does procrastination cost me? How does procrastination hurt your finances (if you are like me) and do you think this is a big problem in the US?

fortunately procrastination helped me. I had money sitting in cash and I was trying to learn how to invest it but kept putting off the research. I was afraid of investing what I didnt understand so I just left it there making less than 1% interest in savings.

this was around 2008.

then I started putting money in around 2010. got really lucky so far.
