  • Target stolen cards implications on my credit?

I was reading the article that Target had 40 million credit cards stolen from their reader machines and that I should cancel my credit card. My question is will this hurt my credit score? The credit card I used is my oldest credit card. Does that mean I lose the entire history or is there a special thing credit agencies do when a credit card has been stolen so you keep the history of the card? What other issues might this cause my finances?

You should be OK. Usually when this happens, there is a note that the credit card was compromised and the history from the old account is forwarded to the new account. You shouldn't take a credit score hit for cancelling your card and you should keep your entire history.

Was your card compromised? When you check your Target account on-line do you see a problem? Were you notified your numerical group was part of the group hacked? Do you use your card without problem?
