What was your best value vacation?

I am trying to get a huge head start on vacation plans for next year. I know that great vacations have a lot to do with your own personality and what you like to do, but I'm hoping to get some inspiration on great value vacations. That's why I would love to hear about what you feel was the best value vacation you ever took, how much it cost and why you thought it was such a great value.

Couple of months ago took advantage of a last minute cruise to Panama Canal. Cost around $ 66. CND a day not counting excursion costs. Cheap, relaxing, sun, sea, looked after, entertained, fed. Met a great many very interesting people [mostly American] who had wildly diversified views of how the USA should be governed.

We really like going to Outer Banks,NC. We rent a condo on the beach for a week and stay. It is nice because you have a full kitchen and lots of living space. You can eat in, get takeout and just relax. We have been there are least 12x staying in Nags Head, Kitty Hawk, etc.
