  • Amazon raises free shipping threshold

I've been meaning to post this for a while. When did Amazon raise the free shipping threshold from $25 to $35? I never heard anything about that until the last time I went to place an order.

It happened about a month ago.

And as of this past month, we also have to pay sales tax on Amazon in Massachusetts.

Sounds like it's time to get the yearly membership

I noticed about a month ago too. Doesn't bother me much because we primarily buy cat food from there and so now we just get 4 bags instead of 3 and buy it less often. Any other purchases we just keep in the cart till we reach the threshold or add bags of cat food to the order. The cat food is almost half the grocery store price and we don't have to carry it. We also buy a few low sodium or no sodium foods that they don't have at the store, so it's not too hard to get it up to $35.

I have Amazon Prime membership which includes free streaming of movies and tv shows. I used to pay $7.99 with Netflix, but now that money pays for our Prime membership of $79 per year. There is no minimum with Prime and you get 2 day shipping. I've really enjoyed this option now that we live further away from some major shopping areas.
