Can you come up with some good examples of items whose prices are disproportionate to their value?

How about:

1. furniture (why so expensive?)

2. silk flowers (again, why so expensive?)

3. clothing

I would say that clothing because of name brands, people pay to wear the logos etc. You can figure out the true value when they get marked down because even rdeuced 75% off the stores are still making money I have heard the the retail markup of most things is over 100%.

Some people may think that its too expensive, but as long as enough people will pay that amount for it, that means the cost reflects its value.

I am stumped but I can say cars are definately one of them take Toyota for example. Looke at the Camry and the Lexus it's made by the same maker they look almost exactly alike but because society is stuck on names the Lexus is more expensive. I also have to agree with as well when it comes to clothing

I would also ditto that demand is a major part of cost, if people will pay for it, the cost will go up.

I can think of a billion things that cost waaay to much, but people keep buying them...
