By March 2015 want to buy a trailer with good bones needing only soft spot repairs and cosmetic updates.
As of now I'm in an apartment with a section 8 subsidy and am on disability. I've started to work again and am on my way to getti g off disability. When SSDI you can earn up to $749/month with no effect on monthly payments. Then there are 9 work trial months when you can make as much as you can and not have it affect monthly payments. The 9 months don't need to be consecutive. With Section 8 my additional income isn't counted for a year then after that only 50% is counted for another year, then 100% is counted. When I reach the 50% mark I'll be close to paying full rent. Lot rent and utilities are cheaper than full rent and utilities in my apartment, $500 (on the high end) vs $650. I can have up to $20,000 in savings. I should be able to have that much by March 2015 (19 months away).
Most of my savings will be with my rep payee, who handles all my SSDI payment money. I pay $39/month for ther service but without it I wouldn't have any savings. I can be very impulsive (thank you genetics). It can look a lot like ocd but differs in the reasoning for the behavior. OCD behaviors are trying to prevent something happening. Impulse control behaviors are trying to relieve built up tension. But through therapy and medicaation I am learning to.control the impulsive behaviors. Anxiety, hypomania and impulsiveness have got me into giant financial messes.
At this point all I only have about $1,800 in debt, the majority of that was incurred this week when my transmission needed to be rebuilt. I should be debt free by December. My debt was near $18,000. When I got my backpay I paid it all off. My current debt should be paid off by December, or sooner if I can get some more fill-in shifts at work. I work in home care for seniors who would otherwise need placement in a nursing home or assisted living. There is no such thing as guaranteed hours, due to the nature of the buisness. I am finally getting 2 regular clients instead of just fill-in shifts. The pay is good and my employer and office staff are beyond amazing. They truely have my back and support me 100% in my journey of returning to work.
As far as my plans for the cosmetic fixing up of my eventual trailer go, I have a board on pinterest where I am pinning all kinds of low cost things to do. I am starting to look out for things I can easily store in my apartment to aid in the transformation of my new place.
