We are moving to another state at the end of the month and will be replacing 6 appliances in the house we are purchasing. Where have you had good luck negotiating prices? I was hoping that since we're buying 6 in one shot we could get at least a 20% discount.

At some stores, salespeople work on commission. At others, they are salaried. You generally have more negotiating power with commission-based salespeople because they are willing to trim their commission to make the sale. Just search online to find out which stores in your area are which.
That said, don't be tied to the plan of buying everything in one place. The store that has the best price on a refrigerator might not be the same store with a good price on a washing machine. Check for rebate offers too. And try to get them to give you free delivery, especially if you buy multiple items.
Check if there is a Sears Outlet store in your area. We've gotten a few things there and saved hundreds.Steve

I second Sears Outlet. We actually just bought a fridge from there for half off the new price. There are some minor cosmetic scratches on it, but nothing serious.
I'd also check Craigslist. There are tons of almost new appliances for sale on there for deep discounts.Brian
