  • Need some advice..

I have no income right now.. So I took any job I could get.. Went to orientation today and HATE it..She gave me 12 hours for the whole week!! And I only get checks every 2 weeks and it's ON MONDAY! So I don't know what to do so I called another place that wanted me for late hours and said I would like an interview.. How do I not clash the two.. meaning how do quit the one I don't like so I can start the new one? Do i tell the new one about the old one? please help

One thing at a time...go to the interview for the second place first, and see what they offer and whether it's a better deal/you like it better....grandma said it best: don't let go of one rope unless you're already holding the other one!

You are better off to quit now if it is unbareable, I think!

If 12 hours is not what you expected after the interview for the first job, I would talk to your supervisor and say that you were hoping to have more hours. If it isn't just the number of hours, then keep looking for another job, and at your interviews for other jobs tell them you'll be able to start in 2 weeks - that you need to give your current employer your 2 weeks notice. If the hours don't overlap, you can start the new job before ending the old one.

MsRis: Are you sure you don't like the job? I've hated the first couple months of every job I've ever had.

If you really know you don't like the job, I would not give 2 weeks notice. The point of the 2-weeks notice is to allow the employer to get a little more productivity out of you while they find a replacement. Since theoretically you're not productive yet, there's no point. On the flip side, you won't be putting the job on your resume or asking for references -- so you don't gain either.

I agree, if you've only been there a week or two, don't feel obliged to give 2 weeks notice. After all, do most companies give their employees notice they're going to fire them? No!

Try to ask more questions about the new job to find out if it what you really want.

Well I would say either give it a try I mean you only had orientation or go ahead explain in a nice way that you are actually looking more for a challenge some where that you can move up it does not apply but what ever you do leave on a good note because you never know
I also agree with Miclason go to the interview at the other job see what they are offering. I started my job almost two years ago hated when I got here but love it now
