If you had a choice which city would you move to ?
Re: If you had a choice which city would you move to ?
I really don't know, but I must have winter, snow and lots of it. Mountains are a must. Somewhere in the mountains of Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana or N&S Dakota would work. I've toyed with the idea of Alaska...have an aunt that says I'd love it. I'd like to be within about 4 hours of a city big enough to have an airport and good bulk shopping and make a few trips a year in to get stuff. Besides that I'd be okay with isolation as long as I was pretty self-sufficent. Small town close by for the basics and stuff and no problems here.
Big cities and traffic are nice to visit, but NOT for me.

I have to be honest, I love where I live near Fort Walton Beach, FL (between Pensacola and Destin). The blue-green ocean water is gorgeous and the crystal white beaches are gorgeous. Plus, I like the military influence in the area. Where else can you get an F-16 air show over the ocean every single morning during your commute? Also, ~9 months out of the year, you can spend the entire day outside. Hurricanes are a pain, but in some ways, it makes our community a better place. I've never seen anything bring out the best in people like hurricane Ivan did. Now, we've rebuilt stronger than we were before.
If we were to move somewhere else, it would be Nashville or somewhere in Tennessee. Not too cold, not too hot. Beautiful hills.
My husband is from Fort Wayne, Indiana. His family thinks that Ft Wayne is just the greatest place to live. I just don't see it. Very little culture going on, no mountains, no ocean. Cold most of the year. Just not for me. (no offense to any Ft Wayne residents but it is better that I say it here than in front of my 15 in-laws that think my Ft Wayne is the best place to live)
If I can't be in shorts and flip flops 9 months out of the year, it isn't for me!

I am living in the city of my dreams - Cary NC. My wife and I researched long and hard after living in Asheville and Charlotte NC. We moved here in 2000 when it was starting to get a bit busy. It's still booming but the town is so well engineered that the growth has thus far been absorbed well. I can foresee this town becoming dysfunctional if the influx of new residents continue for a few more years. The schools here are very overcrowded except for a couple of exceptions. The traffic during rush hours are noticeably worse since we moved here 6 years ago. There is great diversity in this town in terms of ethnicity and cultures, but not a lot in terms of socioeconomics. Basically just about everybody who lives here are well off except for the folks living in apartments who work as service personnel. This city is very very different from the rest of NC (as are Asheville and Chapel Hill and Durham). Some other cities I wouldn't mind living in are Seattle, Portland OR, several mid-sized cities in Colorado, Omaha NE, Iowa City, Cincinnati, Chattanooga, various small towns in NJ, Freeport or Portland ME.

I live in Sacramento, CA right now. Here you can have snow almost any time of the year ( you just have to drive an hour or two up to the mountains) and summer any time you want, just drive to the ocean beach in San Diego or LA. Summers here are really hot, but in the winter there is usually no snow. This is the best city about the weather. I like that here are people are from all cultures and races, so no matter who you are,you don't feel like you don't belong here.
The only problem here that the houses are really expencive. The cheapest house would be not less than 300K. and if you want to rent, you can find 1bdr appt for about 700 a month, and if you want 3-bdr, you would pay close to 1000 every month. We pay almost 1500 a month mortgage. I am sure that a few years from now the rent for the same house would cost more than we pay mortgage for ours.

I don't like cities. I am a small town type of gal. But, I do like Lexington, KY. The weather is pretty mild, not too hot or not too cold. Seems to be a growing city.
Re: If you had a choice which city would you move to ?
I visited Lexington a couple month ago, I still like Sacramento better. Some of my friends will be moving there in a couple months because the houses are cheaper there.
Re: If you had a choice which city would you move to ?
I would live halfway between my daughter's house and my son's house so I could see them more often. I would prefer it not be in an actual city though. I like small towns or even countryside. We love where we live but it's too far from those we love. We can be happy and fulfilled living anywhere the Lord chooses to put me but we am hoping that soon he puts us near our other babies and their babies.
Re: If you had a choice which city would you move to ?
unless our family ends up uprooted and moving away someday we'll probably stay here even tho it cost way, way too much... so my vote is for oahu, hawaii....lol...
for you, i'd at least think about texas although make sure you can stand the heat first... i can have bad physical reactions to extreme weather so it wouldn't work for me...
