  • Hiring a CFC or ChFC in Europe?

    Hello everyone,

Is it possible to hire a Certified Financial Planner or a Chartered Financial Consultant, that will travel to Europe (or vice versa)? Where can i find them, is there any kind of a directory for them online?

I've found myself in the situation where i'm looking for a long-term financial consultant, since i don't have the education nor experience, to deal with the financial situation that i've found myself in recently. Since in my country there is no official certificates and pretty much anyone with any kind of insurance or bank products selling license can call themselves a "financial planner", i've no other option but to look for someone internationally.

I will appreciate your help very much.

    Thank you!

It seems to me it would be much more cost effective to ask friends, co-workers and others of similar means who they use in your area. The cost of flying someone over really doesn't make sense to me when there is likely someone that fits the bill in your country.

Why not ask your local bank, consumer organisations or as Lorraineb says, co-workers, friends. Maybe there's also some kind of registry for certified financial advisers in your country.

      Good luck MeMyself.

CFPs & CFCs are often affiliated with major organizations like banks or investment organizations who have links, offices and colleagues in nearly every country on all the continents. Before 'hiring' or buying a product from an investment 'salesmen,' counsellor or whatever they call themselves, ask to see their credentials and make note of the issuer, year and certificate number.

What country is home base? Is there are problem of certification there?

Plus there's the slight problem that we are only registered to provide investment advice in America. Licenses don't extend outside of the country.

And US laws/accounts are different than UK laws/accounts.

You'll need to find someone local.
