Is there any product on the market that will help repel dust and cat hair and such from a comforter?

I bought a beautiful dark red cotton cover but everything sticks to it. I used dryer sheets when i washed it to help prevent static but i seem to be attracting things. it is driving me crazy!

I think what you're looking for is called a 'duvet cover'. It's like a pillow case for your comforter. It closes with buttons.

    Here's a picture from Amazon.com:

BTW: If you already have a comforter cover, try a cover made of a different fabric.

I have a poodle, so have never had a "hair" problem. When we had a cat, it kept sleeping on our new car, so we bought a mat that plugs in and sends out a slight shock when touched. After a few times, the cat never got on the car again.

Do you think that a can of Scotch guard might help? It might be worth a try. When my cat slept on the bed I put a spare sheet on top of the comforter to collect all the hair and such and would wash it every few days then put on a fressh one.

Rubbing a fabric softener sheet (preferably unscented) on the cover should reduce the static charge. Also raising the humidity in the bedroom will help.
