Carmen, that's way too much money to be making from adsense in just one week. Exactly what kind of website do you have that generates that many clicks ?

It takes a long time to build up adsense revenue. It doesn't happen overnight, but if you stick with it for a year, it will gradually start to build.

Hmmm...I was wondering about click revenue. Twelve months is quite the while, but is that the norm?

ive never heard anything back from them. jeffery how long did it take you to find out if they would let you do the clicks on your pages?

They usually let you know within a few days. Check your junk mail folder.

They may not let you put google adsense on myspace since that is owned by MSN.

Erika, just to give you an idea about how much money you can expect when first starting out with Adsense....

I was accepted for adsence at the end of January for the blog on my house. (Link at the bottom) According to Adsense I have had:

1185 page impressions and 2 clicks- this has earned me $1.48 over the last two months. I am still working on the blog, and I seem to get more hits each day. I definately wouldnt consider it a true source of income if you didnt love what you are writing about, because it does take alot of time.

oh i love my pages. i love what i write about..its just a little nothing place..just how i live on less money than most..actully its suposed to be on less than 20000 a year..but i only make about 12000 a year all together..so its really liveing on wayyyyy less. lol. thanks for telling me tho. i liked your site by the way.

I liked yours as well, as I do just about anything on Frugal living. I can tell you love what you write about. I just wanted to put it out there that I wouldnt create and update a site just for the ad revenue. I'm looking into some other ad possibilities to add to mine. I will keep you updated on what works. We signed up quite long ago so I can't remember exactly how long the approval process took. What most people don't realize is that it takes a lot of promotion to make a blog or site successful. There are so many out there that if you just write on your blog, nobody will ever find you. One good way is to place your signature in forums where it is allowed (like here when you've met the initial requirements), but also posting comments on other people's blogs that you like. It takes time, patience and you do have to love what you're writing about because the payoff comes long after you would quit if you didn't.

I would also seek out webrings that offer similar sites to draw traffic to yours joesbaby. Find groups with similar interests in what you want to write about....frugal living, parenting, budgets, ect

Regarding starting/running your own site... make sure the name is not trademarked. The owner of All Things Financial blog has to change his name because he received a Cease & Desist order from another company.

Another way to promote your site is to offer your articles for reprint on other sites. When you do that, you get a resource box that can include a link back to your site. I have some of my article son other sites, and I have some from Jeffrey and Jesse published at DivaTribe.

Thanks for the link Billsgirl. I'm going to give them a try. I really like the fact I can decline advertisers that I don't want projected on my site. I gave them a relatively large space to see how it pans out.

You can approach web sites directly and submit your work to them. I get a lot of articles at DivaTribe this way. When people send their articles to me (I have an "author submissions" contact page that they can use) they include their bio/resource information along with them.

You can also find sites online where you submit your article, and then web site managers can find your article and reprint it. I thnk they callthese "article banks".

You can always email sites that you personally like and ask if they accept articles.
