    The flavor difference between pre-grated vs freshly grated cheese is notable and striking. Because freshly grated cheese tends to have so much more flavor, much less of it is needed. That, on top of the lower per pound price, is another vote in it's favor. Seriously, it takes what, maybe 30-60 seconds to grate some cheese?

      I am more concerned with the ingredients in most processed foods than the price, since we do sometimes splash on stuff that's probably not too cheap. We are eating now a lot of fruits and they're pretty expensive this time of the year, but in this department we're making efforts to eat HEALTHY as much as we can. And it doesn't always come cheap.

      I do like to do stuff from scratch though. We even make our own yoghurt now, close to getting a bread making machine. I stopped using any 'additives' in my soups and broths, even if all people I know use them. So I don't use 'pre-made' stuff as much as I used to, we're cooking a lot of stuff from scratch.
