I don't use coupons and I don't seek out sales that often. Overall, I just try to live a frugal lifestyle and I save a good bit of my income.

My in-laws. They have a high household income, but they overpay on nearly everything. It wouldn't be so bad but my SIL always try to publicly rationalize or justify why they overpay.
      Two questions:

      1) unless they're asking you for handouts, why do you care what they pay for things? They may be publicly rationalizing because they know that you're mocking them behind closed doors.

      2) is it that they "overpay" on everything, or just pay more for things that they consider valuable that are different from the things that you hold valuable?

We paid a ton of money for a TV. It's a beautiful TV and my husband loves it. He values very highly his movie and sports watching experience, and we paid for it with available funds without going into debt or taking money that was earmarked for any other more noble purpose. So you would say that we overpaid. But I contend that we didn't - that we just have different priorities than you do.

Saving money is good but being thrifty is bad. I try to save on everything but not be a thrifty. I, most of the times save on thingss by buying them from sale or through online shops because I get too many options and brands in varying price range to choose from. All this helps a lot in the long run.

            I wish

The fact is in this day and age there is a way to save money on almost everything. I am not nearly diligent enough as I am sure most of us aren't to make sure I find the way to save. But hey coming here is a start I guess. Good luck to us all!
