  • cheaper meat now then much higher

due to the damaged corn crops pig and cattle farmers are slaughtering at a rapid driving down prices. the price of pork in my area has dropped, ive seen it for .99/lb for 2 weeks in a row now. i have not noticed the price of beef coming down much. when this inventory dry's up prices will climb to a staggering level, you guys think the ground beef is high now, just wait.

You may see a short term spike once the supply drops, but things will most likely level off next year. If you are concerned, then stock up. Vaccuum seal some meat and freeze it. It should last 6 months to a year in the freezer without much trouble.

I'll have to keep my eye out for deals. The best price I have seen on any pork so far is $1.99 a pound for butt roast and pork steak. On the subject of ground beef. Beef is our preferred meat. I love steak and the kids prefer burger. Steak was recently less that burger. I was shocked!

It probably won't affect us too much, we buy a cow and part it out - we buy 1/8th, others in the group buy more or less depending on their storage capacity and/or carnivore rating.

XL Meat -[frozen boxed meat] has been shut down for a week and all their beef has been pulled off the shelves. Expect a big spike in all meats as the pork producers are selling off, significant quantities of beef becomes unavailable and buyers shift to chicken driving up that market segment. ouch!

Not seeing any price drops in metro Chicago. All meat, including chicken, is up 20-30% from 6-12 months ago.
