Ebookdrop - for those that have used this

What kind of books are they looking for? I did a search yesterday and none of the books I entered were in demand. I tried to a do a variety - textbooks, current bestsellers, "classic" authors, etc. I only did hardback though. Are they looking more for paperbacks?

I'd be interested in doing this. I can get hardbacks from the library for $1.00. These are books that were donated, so they aren't discards and are in great condition.

Also, I noticed a lot of books at the library were bookclub editions and I couldn't find an ISBN on them. Anyone know where it would be listed?

I've used ebook alot and have found it to be totally hit or miss. Although I've sold both hardback and paperback, I've found (naturally) that the hardbacks usually sell for more. Keep in mind that the books they'll accept change regularly. One thing I do is make a list of all the ISBNs I look up. Every few months I'll enter them again to see if I can sell them.

When you're at the library, write down the ISBN's for the books they're selling, and look them up right on the spot. (Most libraries have free internet access). If ebook buys them for a price that nets you a profit, pick them up, otherwise pass. It doesn't take too long and is totally risk-free.

I too find it's hit or miss. No rhyme or reason that I can find!

As for the ISBN, I've been able to find it inside the book on one of the first couple pages - the same page where you find the publishing info and stuff. Hope that helps!

That's what I thought Amy, but there wasn't one listed. I don't know if "book club editions" are special or what. Very strange.

i have used the service twice.. once they paid me in about 3 weeks... i am still waiting for my other check and it has been
5 weeks.. emailed them and no answer... i find that they are
looking for self help books mostly..

Markio, I've had the same experience recently. I emailed them regarding a payment from a few weeks back and haven't heard from them. I do notice from other's posts and journals that they are getting paid, so I'm hoping they're just backed up and running slow. (It's worrisome for me, though, because I do have quite a few payments outstanding from them).

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one because I sent some stuff at the beginning of January and I haven't received anything yet either. It's been about six weeks!

same here...I sent a few books in the fall and got paid pretty quickly. Sent a second batch of books o 12/28 and nothing.

I've also sold multiple batches of books. After the first couple sets I received payment quickly, but have waited about 5 weeks for payment on later sets. I don't know where other people are sending books from, but I did notice that the first sets had a Washington State address on the label. Later sets went to New York. I have assumed this is part of the slow turn around.

I've heard about them - another thing you all migth want tolook up if "half.com" you list your books for free - and like ebay WHEN the item gets sold, they take a small percentage off the price of the book and then you ship it. I'd only suggest half.com for the people that live in the 48 main states. You list your book (cheapest being 75 cents) and then the buyer pays a flat rate for shipping - every 1st and 15th, half.com will give you your book price and a little bit of money for shipping the book. they are realiable and you will make MUCH more off them, then ebookdrop. I sold an old textbook off half.com for $45 dollars and "tried" to just ebookdrop it before i listed it with half.com and ebookdrop would have only given me 1.89 for that smae book I sold for $45. granted after all the fees I paid were through and the amount of money they gave me for shipping was insuffiecient, I still walked with $40 in my pocket. So my advice?: HALF.COM
But another piece of advice - don't go stocking up on books that you'll have just sitting around - unless you want them for your enjoyment, sometimes it could be weeks before someone "stumbles" upon your listing and buys your book. and another thing - list your book cheaper then anyone else - people going to half.com are looking for a bargain.... the book I sold for $45 was the cheapest listed and I bought that book for over $70 - other people were listing it at $50,$60, etc...

CJ, that's all well and good, unless you have a book where there are 40 listings and well over half of them are listed at 75 cents.

Half.com has been taken over by charities who just want to sell their books and not make any actual money. It really pisses me off that these charities list these books so cheap, I'm sure the people who donated them really wanted them to get market price. It makes me never want to donate anything to the charities that list there.

I agree that you can make more $ on half.com (for some items). I sell books there as well but use ebookdrop for books that sit there for months and months without selling.
