OMG! Viagra does make nice pens! I work at a doctor's office, I always grab all of their pens when their reps come!

the problem with self checks is that sometimes they run low on $ and don't give you all your change. You will have to wait for a manager to come from the cash office to refill it. Could take up to 10-20 minutes depending on how lazy workers are...

also do not forget your change! I have seen people leave $10 and $20 bills before!

I use cc everywhere, so that wouldn't be a problem for me. But maybe I should check to see if there is leftover change?

I get cashback/dividend on my cards and I pay them off each month, so it works well for us.

we use our discover card or aaavisa cash back card.. not money... we are always on
the up and up, our son is in law enforcement... but, we do like freebies, so, i try
to do a few a week on the net, if it is something that we would like to have a sample of or obtain coupons for a future purchase...i get alot of pens from staples on their
$0.49 deals.... some are free from our dentist, doctor, our work, etc......

i dont concider getting a ketchup pack from a resteraunt, as shoplifting. your paying for the food and they ask if you want ketchup or salt at burger places, hot or mild at taco bell, if you want arby or horsey sauce at arbys, they ask. i dont shoplift. our walmart dont have self check or i might use it. our walmart has 40 isles and only four cashiers 2 on each side most of the time. the waits are rediculous. i went at 4 pm once, got the guy to get 2 bikes down for christmas presents early, in november. after waiting for him, getting thru the line, i was driving like a maniac to get home so dave could leave for work, i got home at 535, 5 mins after hes supposed to leave for work. i didnt do any shopping either, i went right to sporting, and buzzed for a worker, took them myself to the cashiers, and went right home. thats how rediculous it gets in ours.

Re: Do you do anything questionable to save money?

my sin is making money go farther than it is supposed to. My tenant (who is a previous foster child of mine) is on a total disability so she has applied for and received food stamps since her surgery a couple years ago. The amount is crazy high!
She isn't a cook & if left to her own devices would purchase everything pre made...... Since she lives here, I have been doing the cooking. She shops, gets everything off my list and I can make her money feed the 3 of us for months, not 30 days. Consequently, she has extra food stamp money on her card all the time. She can spend it on herself & does..........anything chocolate!!

She is supposed to be doing her own cooking & keeping her food separate from the households..........but that is just not feasible, nor is it the most frugal.

I do add items in to the household, but have never kept track....until now. I'm hoping to get a handle on exactly how much. I was purchasing a half of a beef each year, which was a big chunk of money........but now since there is only 3 of us, I'm going to try a year without doing that. We can all use less beef anyway!

I've confessed, my conscience should be clear now! Doing this my way assures that she is getting a balanced diet and much fewer chemicals and preservatives. Her health is so compromised anyway, this has to be the smarter way. If the food stamp police come & find me cooking instead of her, I think I've got enough to back up my motives.

Re: Do you do anything questionable to save money?

I meant specifically getting extra packets for later. Not an "oops, I guess I only needed 2 not 3" but "I'm going to fill my bag with these packets so I dont' have to buy ketchup for the rest of the month" (or however long they last).

I usually refuse the ketchup if asked because I am trying to raise my kids to not *need* ketchup on everything (like my niece and nephews). Plus, it gets left in the car and stepped on and cleaning ketchup out of a car in 100+F temps is so not fun.

i c ur point too. however of all condinements, ketchup would be the best, health wise. i dont think ive seen anyone w/o any condiments on something except my youngest. he orders his cheeseburgers plain, hes four, and he specifically asks for that. he is the only one and thats only been recent, but if he wants condiments, ketchup or mustard, are the 2 that i would take over any. i love mayo myself, but i know what it is now, its not good, i bought in part of harvey, my step dad, present basket, i bought him arbys condiments in michigan. he loves pepsi, candy, arbys, crossword puzzles and sports on tv. so i make him baskets of stuff, except the tv.lol he already has a 52", hes hard to buy for, but those are things i know he loves. my mom gave me the idea. she was here over thier anniversary, going home the day of, she ftd'd him a candy basket, wtih pepsi. it was a min of 40 and up. for fourty dollars, i get him twice as much.lol.but they dont sell them here. i dont know why. maybe its cause they are part of a truck stop, pilot, the one in michigan was all on its own. ill be sure to ask why next stop there.

We "allow" mustard and salsa (salsa, btw, is the most nutritious). I don't not allow ketchup, I just discourage it. And mayo? Disgusting stuff, I can't even stand the smell of it.

And recently, we've started "allowing" the younger child to use creamy caesar salad dressing.

my kids are a bit picky. my 9 yr old son only wants mustard. my daughter wants it the way its made but likes lettuce added. darien dont like anything but cheese on his burger. dave loves the mctasty, he loves all that goop drippin off. all of us love the sweet n sour for french fries, not bk's tho it has anchovies in it. there used to be a bent can store here, and they had salsa packs 25 for a dollar, and i bought those for dave. my kids dont like anything hot, not even a bit of pepper in thier food. I had my gall bladder explode on the surgery table, i cant eat it anymore, i used to eat chips and salsa daily, now i cant even touch the stuff, my case was so bad, and i had a stone that never passed and grew to size of a softball that attached to my ribs, i have the body of a butterfly scar going frmo my sternum to my ummmm past my belly button. i suffer what they tell me is gastritis. even smelling it, and i loveeeeeee salsa so its so hard, actually prefered pincante sauce, i have heart burn that i can taste big time. horsey sauce dont tho, i tred lightly there tho.lol i mix it with arby sauce too. i dunno why its so difficult, i go thru a bottle of tums a week tho.
