    Re: Spendaholic

My husband could be a spend a holic when it comes to cars. I would never let him go to that barrett jackson auction. we would have to sell our house and live in the cars!!

I'm probably the opposite of a shopaholic I have such a hard time spending money on clothes and whatnot . . .

I have an aunt who is both a shopaholic and a hoarder. The inside of her house is just insane. Boxes and boxes of stuff, rooms that you can't get into, a grand piano and extra appliances in the drive way. Thankfully 4 of the 5 children are older and don't live at home, but the youngest has a little corner in the basement since her room was taken over by boxes. It's so sad . . . we've tried to help, but it's not the stuff, it's the emotions around accumulating the stuff . . .

That is sad, I have seen people on tv with houses full of stuff that they don't need or use. You are right, you really can't help a person like that. The older I get, the less stuff I want. I have all kinds of things I inherited, like my mother's china, silver, antiques. Stuff I haul from house to house and never use. I use to collect hummels, now I have a bunch and I really don't want them.

My grandma had a bunch of hummels that she collected, that my parents now have. My parents had no use for them (they already have too many collectibles as it is) and my dad listed and sold many of them on Ebay.

NO I am not now but I think I have went threw a stage in my life when I was. I would go to the mall & buy my kids tons of clothes I was going threw a stage of unhappiness & stress!! I regret it greatly I could have probably gotten the same high going to garage sales & had a huge stack of cash now somewhere in savings!!! Heres how bad it was I havent really bought my kids clothes in 4 yrs because they have so many from that time LOL!!!

The good thing is I did get alot of bargains one time I got a swimsuit & the store paid me a penney to buy it cause my coupon was $5 off & the swimsuit was 4.99 it was dora & my middle dd loves it!! I also got her a dora bed in the bag set once for $5 at sears. I have gotten good at clearance sales & coupons when shopping for example at xmas my oldest got a house robe & 2 pairs of pjs the total was less than $3 after all coupons & these were from pennies & sears. So I guess one good thing came out of it I learned to match coupons & clearances I still shop like that but I dont go in spending hundreds for a few things now its only a few bucks here & thier not much at all.

So I guess I still like to shop but I learned how to clearance shop & get great stuff for next to nothing & new too!!

I've known many folks who can't afford to be one. I have a friend whom by the time we were 20 had as many if not more cc's than she was old! It kills me she tells me how to spend my money & that she's going to buy some big fancy house one day... yeah but 5 min later she was compalining about how the cable co cut her off & she was "ONLY" a month behind! WTF?!?!?! (PARDON MY MOUTH)

Dh is a bit of one, he's a gadget guy... need I say more? *L*

If I find a deal & I can't use it I'll call the person and tell them where to find it or pick it up if they ask.

And if we have things we haven't used nor will use again we pass it on to a friend or family member that could use it & vice versa.
