All my life I had tried to get out of poverty. I had failed. I got the right education, learned the right languages, stayed away from alcohol, tobacco, drugs, and gambling, married the right man.

But it doesn't matter what I do, it was all in vain.

The pain is too much. I need something to take the edge off. I need something cheap to distract me. It is soo hot outside. I am trapped where I am.
I think we all have similar sorts of feelings from time to time. How do you picture your life being? What is it that you want and don't have?

When I have anxiety I try to attack the source of the problem. Other times I see it as "just life" and wait to cycle it out. Like you, I try to hit my usual interests: read, play sports, get a massage, play on the computer, exercise.

Unfortunately, it isn't enough in life to do the "right things" to bring us happiness. It's how we use and apply the "right things" that will bring us joy. For example, in college I studied French and since we are moving I found this copy of the Adventures of Tintin in French that I had bought when I studied abroad years ago. I sat down, understood about half of it, but still enjoyed it. It took me back to a time and place that was much simpler. Oh and this graphic novel I was reading, I read it the first time in English when I was about 8 or 9 years old.
