What are those Politicans Thinking

Well, I personally do not think we will default. I think that there will be some kind of last-minute default plan or deal to come through immediately prior to the supposed deadline of August 2nd (even though to implement the plan, they need to have it in place well before then!).

I gave up thinking that the average elected representative cared about anything other than money or power a long time ago. Our elected gov't does not really care about the people that elected them, and everyone just kind of accepts this. It is the way of life here. Sadly, I think most politicians (not ALL, but most) of any party are the same.

To be fair to the politicians, the collapse of the American economy is not totally their fault. It has been in the process for a long time, since America began borrowing far beyond its means without ability to repay. For an individual, that would mean eventual bankruptcy. For any country, I believe it is a basic equation that eventually the same will result.

Although I think there will be an 11th hour solution, I hate the political maneuvers going on by both sides. When are they going to act like adults and actually solve some problems?

I've heard it said that things don't change in this country until people take to the streets. When I think of the civil rights movement, the anti-Vietnam war protests, I believe it. We've become complacent, resigned, because things just aren't bad enough for everybody. Sure, there were protests in Wisconsin over their government layoffs and budget, and Minnesota actually shut down, but somehow the rest of the country doesn't notice the canary in the coal mine.

The government has done a great job of fooling people into believing they have a right to entitlments.

The reason we will fail eventually is due to quasi-socialism. We pretend to be free and independent, but most americans are entitlment junkies in one form or another.

People actually think they pay into and have earned unemployment benefits, people think that the EITC is something they earned, People actually think that there is a SS/medicare money tree that magically funds them, people actually believe that 48 million americans are starving, people actually believe that wallstreet(they only packaged them) created the toxic assets.

I've contacted my representatives with my opinion. Of course, received canned responses back. One agreed. One was not in agreement with my views. Frustrating to be disregarded by the second one. Do they listen? Do they do what they prefer and ignore the populous. Ugh!

And here at our house we are willing to give up entitlements, pay more taxes and plain just do our share to fix this mess. The direction we are going is not going to work.

Im not sure what all these politicians are all about. They are too busy looking after themselves to think of the likes of you and me.

I still think that the stock market will tank despite a debt deal. People may think I'm weird, but oh well!

You know, I KNOW I AM WEIRD because I don't blame our politicians.

I blame ourselves. . .for wanting instant fixes, for expecting government to solve every problem, instead of what it can and can't solve, for kicking the can continually down the road.

It's not Washington; it's the People.

I refuse to beleive everyone we elect into office is totally inept and becomes a "politician" the minute he/she enters office.

I just can't blame them, especially Obama.

Standard & Poor's credit downgrade is a confirmation our government is dysfunctional! When are elected officials going to wake up and solve problems? Cutting expenses indiscriminately is not the answer nor is raising taxes. Does anyone in Washington have a vision?

Well, I don't know if Standard & Poor is the best judge.

I mean, wasn't Standard & Poor one of the corporations that knowingly gave AAA ratings to bundled high-risk mortgages?...thereby helping to cripple the US & world economy?

Didn't Standard and Poor lobby Congress to stop the process of creating a federal agency to rate credit issuers?
