  • New to financial forums

    Hello all!

I am new to financial forums. Would like to take a second to ask for any suggestions about most effective ways to use these and how to connect with other users. Which sections are the best to read, etc?

A little bit about me: early twenties with a deep interest in finance. Have been in the stock market for a little less than a year. In my spare time, when not in college classes or working, I help (for free + experience) advise people with personal budgets, future planning, etc.

I would really like to connect with other users and hear about suggestions, experiences, techniques, etc.

    Thanks

Welcome! These forums really are a broad mix of just about any topic. Ask any question you may have, or anything interesting that you've experienced lately, and everyone here will have plenty of advice, observations, and ideas to help. And if you enjoy giving advice, you'll definitely fit in here--people frequently come here looking for help/advice, and everyone's thoughts are welcome.

If you check the forums regularly, the simplest function for keeping up with what's going on is the New Posts link in the top-center of the page. Otherwise, simply interact. There are some regulars that we hear from almost daily, and others that may go weeks or months between posts. Bottom line, I think you'll find the forums here pretty interesting and enjoyable.

As to yourself, are you working toward/planning to be a financial advisor in the future? Certainly alot of college students could use some sound financial advice, particularly from a peer who they might respond better to, but I'm a bit surprised to hear that you're able to do so very often. Or is there a program at your college that you volunteer with?

      Kork, thanks for your reply.

The idea of looking for a program at my college is a great idea. Whenever they have a workshop for money or budgeting, I always attend to listen to the suggestions they're giving students. I get into the lectures for free because I'm a student and I always appreciate new ideas on how to help others.

Dunno 'bout being a financial advisor... I enjoy it as a hobby, but wouldn't like to be held responsible for people's mistakes when they don't stick to the plan or make poor decisions.

        Welcome.

Just spend some time browsing the forums. There are sub categories for just about every topic there is when it comes to personal finance.
