  • Gift ideas needed!

I'm thinking about getting a little something for my niece for Xmas (granted, my sis and I said we wouldn't do this, but...) I don't want a big or expensive gift (I really don't have the money), but something nice and "in good taste" ...After all, I get to buy my daughter one less present this year, as I always got her one that I wrapped and took to my parents so they could give her a gift, as I knew they couldn't afford it and it made them feel bad not to give her something...
My niece is 16, very trendy, NOT into reading (so that "kills" books or journals)....she does like to make handicrafts and is very gifted at those, though...

    any suggestions are welcome!!

Does she knit or crochet? I've seen all kinds of neat yarn lately, and a couple of skeins might work (if it's not too expensive in ES).

Well, i was surprised last week when i was in Pottery Barn, usually a pretty pricey store, thta they had some very nice candle holders on sale for like $3.

They were all glass and had a stem on it like a glass you drink from and the top was like a glass cover that fit over the space where the small sized candle goes. I thought they were very attractive, and the ones that were on sale were a pretty mustard color intended for the Thanksgiving season i think; other colors that weren't on sale were only a dollar more.

Anyway, you might find somethng tasteful yet affordable at a pricey store like Pottery Barn.

My wife writes this site that may give you some ideas:

It's UK based but I expect most of the ideas travel well.

How about a subscription to a teen magazine? Even though she doesn't "read" books, she might be interested in a monthly magazine. You can search online for discounted subscriptions to hundreds of magazines.

I usually give a grab bag gift (around $20) to other family members and this year I decided I'm doing the magazine thing myself. I like to try and come up with something different each year to keep the mystery and surprise factor in the holidays.
