  • Why food stamps get abused

In the other food stamp thread, a lot of comments were made about people who abuse the system. Here are two photos I took in a local store today that illustrate that the abuse doesn't just arise from the users trying to game the system. The stores clearly encourage the abuse by plastering ads saying they accept food stamps right by various items that people on public assistance really have no need to be buying.

Sorry the pics are so big. I don't remember how I usually resize them for the forum.

I could post numerous quotes by our Founders that contradict the establishment of these types of programs on the federal level.

This is just one of many examples of why we are 13 trillion(and growing with no end in site) in debt (partially to a communist country, what a proud moment in history).

if we are so concerned about food stamp fraud, maybe the 'purchases' need to be restricted to a certain list of items like in the WIC program. Also, I know here in IL food stamps cannot be used to purchase basic personal care items & cleaning supplies (shampoo, toothpaste, deoterant, laundry soap). I do not think that is a good way to go. People need items like that to maintain themselves & living space.

You are welcome to provide your proof in a PM. It is widely attributed to him. If you have proof, I will remove it, but I will not argue this in this thread.

Edited:For lack of proof either way, at this time, I have changed my sig. and replaced it with quotes with sources.
