You think that's bad, up in Canada when the PS3 first came out there were people waiting in line TWO DAYS before they went on sale. That's right, they got there somewhere during the night, waited the entire next day while customers were coming and going, and stayed the next night also to get their voucher.

Agreed. If you want a new tv and budget for it by saving up your money, then you won't need to stand in line at all.Originally posted by disneysteve View PostSorry, but those people need professional help.
You have to be a special kind of crazy to stand in line for 5 hours to buy a television.Brian

The really crazy thing is that if you just wait a few weeks, most of these items drop in price anyway after the holiday. I say give IOUs and get your gifts in January.Originally posted by elessar78 View PostI have little sympathy for rampant consumerism. Buying a tv for cheap(er) isn't a God given right. No one will die if they can't get a tv this Xmas.Steve

I've been pitching this idea to my family for years, but there is some resistance for obvious (and not so obvious reasons). My family are Catholic but my sister married a Jewish guy and they decided to observe Judaism instead. So really there should be no problem since we don't have to "celebrate" on Christmas day.Originally posted by disneysteve View PostThe really crazy thing is that if you just wait a few weeks, most of these items drop in price anyway after the holiday. Plus, there are "12 days of Christmas" and aside from tradition there really isn't a reason not to "celebrate" it a few days later.
