  • Anyone have Chase Freedon CC?

How is it? I thought about getting one since you get rewards which the categories change like every 3 months or something. I just want to hear your feedback since there is 5% cashback with the categories and no annual fees.. Oh yea and 100 bucks after u spend 700 dollars.

I have a chase freedom card, can't tell you if it is anything special. I use it and collect my reward cash. I do not keep up with the monthly incentives.

I have the Chase Freedom as well. Also use Discover. I use the bonus categories on both. Actually, on the Discover, I only use it for the bonus categories. Otherwise, I use the Chase exclusively. As far as a straight cash back card, the Chase Freedom is the best I've found so far for my usage patterns. I like that I don't have to spend a certain amount before getting the full base cash back rate on the Chase (unlike the Discover which has to build up to giving 1% cash back). I also like that Chase gives me cash back in $20 increments instead of the $50 increments on Discover. Minor, I know, but I don't go out of my way to charge things to the cards for the cash back so it takes me a loooooooong time to build up $50 in rewards.

I have a Chase Freedom - best rewards card I have ever had. They have changed it a lot though. I don't get 5%, but I Can redeem 200 points for $250 still, which is nice. (Grandfathered in, for that).

Just FYI - there will be a dollar spending limit for the 5% rewards. On mine, the limit is $600 per month. I earn 1% on everything after that.

If you're looking for a no annual fee cash back card, the Chase Freedom is probably the best option on the market right now. The $100 bonus promo they're running is definitely an added benefit. If you're not a fan of Chase, then the Discover More card is a good option too and they're currently offering 0% on balance transfers for up to 18 months.

Echoing what MonkeyMama said, there are indeed limits on how much you can earn on the 5% bonus categories. However, Chase's program (while definitely not as good as it once was) has recently been MUCH more generous than the limits Discover imposes. During the July-Sept period, both cards offered bonus rewards of 5% on gas and travel. Discover capped it at $300 in purchases, while Chase Freedom capped it at $1,500. Chase's current categories (Oct-Dec) are grocery, department stores and movies and they have kept the cap at $1,500 in purchases. Discover's current quarterly promotion is department stores, restaurants, clothing stores, but it is again capped at $300 in purchases. There are also monthly promotions on Discover from time to time, but I don't believe any are in effect right now.

I once got the $250 for 200 points, but they didn't grandfather me in so I lost that. It was one of the biggest selling points when I was searching for a rewards card and settled on Chase. I really miss having that perk!

Yes, they have taken that away from a LOT of people. I am not sure how long I will get to keep that benefit, myself. It's the only reason I am keeping the card, at current. (I've redeemed it numerous times!)
