  • Avian Flu Virus

Are you worried about the avian flu virus? What I saw was that it's not if it comes, but when and depending on how bad it is, it could kill millions. Is this something I should be worried about?

H5N1 may mutate and then againit may not. There is no vaccine at present and it now has a mortality rate of 50%. You must come in contact with an infected bird but there has been some evidence that bodily fluids may pass it.

Tamiflu might give you some protection. Then again it might not. The bottom line is that no one knows for sure. I would hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

Great areticle in this months National Geographic.

I'm less worried about bird flu than I am about the 1918 flu virus that a scientist has recently recreated. Last time around it killed 50 million people and that was before mass world travel.

Supposedly they have the 10 vials of this stuff safely locked away. But it wasn't too long ago when scientists "lost" several vials of industrial-grade anthrax too.

I read a article saying we dont have to worry about the 1918 flu because our boddie have created antibodies to fight against it.

the thing that i'm a little concerned about is not the 1918 flu..

but scientists playing with these viruses, re-creating, modifying etc..

It's all very much turning into a science,, Scientists, don't have to experiment on humans, to know what humans are immune to or not immune, they can just go by certain numbers that they worked out by studying our blood.

so all u really need is a group of scientists, modyifying and re-creating these viruses, than finally find one tha the human, body is not immune too..

          BIOLOGICAL WARFARE..
that 1918 article made me think, that thru private funding and public funding the United States is pretty much developing biological weapons.
I dont know how much the UN pays attention to this, but it has to somewhat concerned.
I mean modify recreate a virus to something we are not immune, to, have it fall into wrong hands, or covertly release it into enemy populations, and have them kill a ton of people.

oops virus outbreak in china, kills millions, ruins their economy etc...
          it is a scary concern.

Yeah, avian flu pretty scary prospect, especially since in this age of air travel what'shappening in vietnam will quickly migrate here.

not much we as individuals can do about it, aside from, don't live with your chickens.
