I just did my first yoga class last night and I absolutely loved it. I started looking into it because I'm so inflexible my lowerback wasn't letting me do the lifts I love (squat/deadlift).
The way I see it YOGA will help me when lifting weights by doing the following:
But let me tell you, this power Yoga thing I did just absolutely worked me over like nobody's business. I consider myself pretty strong for my weight and size and there were people (girls) in there that were putting me to absolute shame. It was such a blast! I was sweating so hard at the end that my deep breathing (which I'm practicing) was blowing sweat drops all over my mat. My pants were soaked, my shirt was soaked, my lower back felt great. I loved it! We're going to another class tomorrow morning.

- increased flexibility = less likelihood of another injury
- better breathing technique - more O2 = more muscular strength
- Greater flexibility = greater muscular ROM = more stimulation
- Increased concentration during lifts
- Heightened awareness of body = greater form when lifting
