Re: Privatizing Everything!
But look at their routes. Hardly what I would call serving the consumer public. They have done what the unregulated private sector always does, cherry-pick.
The airlines should be like a taxi service for their regular routes. They could be competitive on the vacation side of their business.
Unsafe Mexican trucks, even American drivers driving far more hours than was previously determined to be safe. Fewer inspections of bad equipment due to less manpower. Not to mention more pollution from the relaxation of the diesel emissions standards.
Yeah, but they did that slowly over time, from 1997 through 2004, and the Clinton administration also allowed them to offer very low-interest government backed student loans, which undercut the private sector banks and saved students TONS of money (which the Bushies immediately reversed when they arrived).
How many businesses would benefit from the federal government backing them up for their first seven years, as well as providing them with cheap money ?

Can you explain what you mean by much more dangerous for interstate shipping?
Freddie and Fannie are quasi-govt institutions but what about Sallie Mae? No longer are they a GSE. They gave that up about 2 years ago. It has worked quite well.
