  • Mind over checkbook

I went to a vintage car show and auction this weekend in Charlotte.

It was quite the show, with hundreds, if not thousands of vintage muclecars and other collectible cars.

I was surprised at the relative bargains - there were many driveable cars in decent, but not concours shape - in the high teens and low 20's.

The auction was quite exciting! Also the primo cars were in line to be auctioned. Prices were all over the place.

For me, it was like an alcoholic going to a distiller's convention. I left my checkbook at home on purpose. I still had fun though, but got a little shaky over a restored '63 Stingray.

Normally I don't play mind-games with myself over spending money. I just make my mind up on something and just do it. But this time I wasn't taking any chances.

that was a good idea to leave your checkbook at home. we all have our weaknesses, good thing you know what yours is.

Good idea on leaving it at home. Whenever I go to Best Buy I at least have to leave the wallet in the car If I'm riding along with someone.

Although, it would be really fun to buy a project car like that at <$2k and restore it. The personal return in satisfaction would be awesome...70's Chevelle SS...

I've never been to a car auction before. Take any pics?

Good call leaving the checkbook home in such a "high risk" situation. LOL I live in Charlotte, NC and didn't even know there was a show here.
