You guys who don't do offsite backup of your system are just asking for trouble. I had a friend who just lost everything - no fire involved.

I'd just grab the dog, make sure I was wearing pants, and a pack of marshmellows.

I would be drinking it on the way out the door. And, you may throw your back out trying to lug a safe out of the house. Unless it's a small safe. lol

          LOL
safe has a handle... its really small- but big enough for our wills, powers of attorney and similar.

The safe is also fire proof, so I will not risk life or limb for it, and I keep my beer in the garage, so hopefully I can drink one while waiting 10 minutes for the fire department.

FYI- you should know how far a drive you are from the fire department- I am a 10 minute drive, maybe 8 according to my friend which works at the firehall which serves my house.

Fire Dept. is approximately 1/4 mile away. Less than a minute drive. Nearest fire hydrant is approximately 750 feet from my front door.

And, my Dad commondeered my old fridge out in my garage that used to house my beer when the fridge at his camp went bad.

hmmm...I'd probably say pictures but I mean honestly my pictures are scattered all over the place in my house so the chances of me grabbing every picture would be kinda impossible. I'll grab the ones on the way out the door. I'd probably grab all my important files and documents first and then baby tapes/videos. I should probably convert all of our old videos to dvd that way it'd be easier to grab huh? Backing pictures up isn't a bad idea. Gonna put that on my to-do list.

I think it would have to be the "memories drawers" or "memories boxes" that are in a couple of spots here and there. Those are irreplaceable, but everything else can be reconstituted.

I would probably grab my wallet, SS card, and some food.
