  • sick of coupons

I have oen child who is one so my free time is now nonexistant virtually even though I stay home(am college educated however). Me and my husband cut and organize coupons, but I dont' have much time to play the coupon game (go to 3 stores a week and match coupons with sales) I use some at grocery and drug stores etc, but kind of tired of spending all the time to sort them and use one out of 100 I organize and cut and then have to go through and throw out b/c they have expired.

Also the grocery stores near me double up to 50 cents and my friend lives an hour away and said the same chain groacery doubles up to one dollar. I sure wish. I will continue but it's a time sucker .

It really comes down to how much your time is really worth, right? If you save $25-50 for spending a couple hours sifting through coupons each week then I would say you're making a positive contribution to your household. Who knows how much you could save over a period of a year..maybe enough to go on a small vacation! Regardless, like any job, maybe you just need to take a break for a short while to re-energize.

      It doesn't have to be.

My sister is big on the coupon thing. Here is what she does:

You get an expando file folder - one with lots of compartments. Each week she puts the 2 coupon inserts from the Sunday paper in one of the pockets of the expando file. She marks the week on it.

Then each week she goes on couponmom.com. They list the sale items and what coupons go with them. It lists the week that the coupon was published in the paper. So in about 10 mins, she decides what to buy and gets the appropriate coupon out of the expando file - clipping only what she uses.

Couponmom is national, so it should have your stores and regional paper.

Another spot to go to look up coupons and see lots of deals is hotcouponworld.com They have tons of people there who go through the ads scouring for coupons and good deals for just about every grocery store, pharmacy, office supply store, etc. It's an amazing resource as a database for coupons, coupon trading, and working up deals, but sometimes their site can be a little overwhelming.
