  • How do you treat yourself?

I'm curious to hear what kind of "treats" you give yourself on a budget.
Probably dependent on what you enjoy too ... lately I've been treating myself with edible things because I'm kind of a foodie! Loose tea, local organic produce, and locally raised bacon never fails to make me happy!
I also like to treat myself with trips to thrift stores and yard sales to find interesting-looking and unique decorations for my apartment.

    How do you treat yourself

Jaine, I treat myself with yarn and crochet cotton to crochet. In this economy, simple little things are now treats. What we used to take for granted, is now a treat. Frugality is the order of the day,it seems. debbott

I treat myself to whatever I want based on my budget. I have fun money set aside that I can use on anything I want. This week, I got Starbucks, a smoothie and meal at Subway. The rest of the week I brought my lunch and snacks from home.

This is basically what we do. Lately, we've tended to use our "fun money" for our casino visits. That's my escape from the pressures of day to day life.

I usually build up money and "reward" myself with a new stock purchase

I like investing, and that gets me excited. Obviously it's impossible to buy the extra shares if I haven't saved up the money, so it's a pretty good incentive (for me at least )

I like to do things with my hands and let my creativity flow such as home renovations (cosmetic), sewing, art, gardening and etc. Right now I am making a baby mobile, wall art and will sew the crib skirt and etc. It’s more of an entertainment for me than for baby but I love to take time away from my stressful work computer environment and relax in creativity which soothes my mind. However, the supplies I use are either recycled from old stuff, clearances and any other frugal ways of obtaining them.

So I put aside money to spend on supplies or it goes towards the bikes fund. DH and I love to go on bike rides and participate in the monthly bike parties or go to Santa Cruz and ride around town and go to a nice restaurant for a day trip.

I guess our other treat would be travel. That could be anything from a day trip to the local shore resort or an out of town vacation for a week or two. I just enjoy going different places, getting a change of scenery, doing something different than my daily routine. Sometimes the trips are very inexpensive. Sometimes not.

Kombucha, espresso+brioche, a book, aromatherapy oil, or if a financial milestone has been reached: a ten-pack of video/DVD rentals or a yoga/qi gong course, depending on the severity of the milestone.

I treat myself with some reasonably priced wine. Love a good Cabernet.

A round of golf here, a dinner out there.

A book not yet available at the library, tickets to a play or concert, an exotic fruit or vegetable to experiment cooking, and taking an extra day off. I can make more money but I can't make more time.
