    Re: Spotting The Jones'

Do those Jones people realize how idiotic they look?

And have you noticed that only other Jones people care about size, cost, quantity of their purchase? Pay no attention to these odd sorts and they won't waste your time.

      Re: Spotting The Jones'

I've actually been enjoying watching our Jones run around like an ant colony this week, the big housewarming blowout is today and they're scurrying and hollering. They put up a HUGE fancy farm sign (mind you this is 1/3 a mile from the road back our private lane), the hog roaster came in and was set up, the porta johns are in place and the tents are set up.

I've been thinking about this thread a bit also, and I think to some my DH and I would be seen as Jones, especially in the past when we bought our trucks brand new, had the 25 acre farm and all the toys we could ever want, 3 tractors, 3 trucks, the horses, etc, etc. But we were both in our 20's, worked full time and it was all paid in full. We still (11 years later) drive those same trucks, have the same tractors, trailers, etc, not so new now but loved and cared for and have a mortgage on a 82 acre working farm.(I drive a 95 F350 diesel crew cab dually and LOVE this truck, also need it for hauling).

So yes, who the Jones's are is all in the eye of the beholder, but watching our Jones's is still amusing.

BTW, the hubby next door said yesterday "I hope I die before I have to pay for all this *hit" I had to choke back my laugh.

        Re: Spotting The Jones'

My Jones' story comes from most of DH / sweetie side. DH's mom usually gifts her kids and a cousin $10,000/ year. I haven't heard word of any great plans with it - mostly credit card payments (?). The cousin begged for her gift a little early. What did she spend it on? An entertainment center.

It'll get interesting. DH's mom is starting to get wise and is making rumblings that the gravy train's coming to a halt. So much for pride and envy, jmjj.

I think we can make the distinction that if you are using equipment as designed for its purpose, you're not a Jones. If the biggest thing you're hauling is a Starbux latte, you might be a Jones.

How's this for a thread...you might be a Jones, if...

Did your Jones invite you to the party?
