  • It pays too question the bill

Took a new perscription into a compounding pharmacy yesterday. Sadly got the call that insurance didnt' cover it and was gonna cost me $84. Figured I needed the meds so gave the pharmacist the "go ahead" to make it. However, started bugging me why it wasn't covered. I called insurance company too see what was the deal. Come to find out the pharmacy was spelling my first name wrong...that was why it was being rejected. Called pharmacy back to make correction.... $9 now!

    Definitely pays to question things.

I bet that happens a lot. Same with medical bills. We often have a patient tell us that their name is spelled wrong on their insurance card and we explain that we need to do everything according to how the insurance has it spelled or else they'll reject the bills we submit. So we set up our records with the incorrect spelling on purpose.

it's is a good money management habit to analyse where your money is going. Dont want to go broke because of complacency do you?

I find that you absolutely have to know your insurance plan in & out because doctors offices and pharmacies can code things wrong or enter information wrong and the insurance co will reject claims or pay out the incorrect amount. Good for you for noticing & doublechecking!

I have this problem a lot. my name is Cristi. note there is not an h in it. nor a k or an e. but no matter how many times I spell it to people they still put one or the other in it. Including insurance company! Had one do that a couple of years ago and it took forever to convince this woman I could spell my own name!
