  • Who Drives You Crazy?

I dearly love my mom, but sometimes she drives me crazy so I have to vent. She is a free spender whether she has it or not. When I was younger I used to succumb to the "you really need to have_____" whatever it was and as a result I bought way too much stupid stuff. I am not blaming her and take responsibility but when I was a young adult I was too easily influenced and had to learn over time. Anyway, fast forward. Today, I decided to take her out with me look at a sofa. She is elderly and hasn't been out of the house for awhile. But, all the way there and back she was telling me how I need not only to get a new sofa, but everything else in the living room is wrong, doesn't match, I need a new rug and on and on. So, I smiled, we walked around and then came home! OK, vent over! Happy, happy!

I bet your mom would just love me. My current couch was a freebie from my roommate's brother. It has holes in it where my roommate's dog chewed the bottom and we have ugly cheapo covers over it. Expensive furniture just isn't a priority for me. When I move, I plan to get all my furniture off craigslist. I do have a nice bed though. I wanted a wrought iron bed because I think they look neat. Turns out they are way cheaper than wooden bed frames. So that worked out.

As for who drives me crazy? Probably someone I know who keeps withdrawing his 401K to pay cc debt that he keeps racking up buying random crap he wants but doesn't need. He also goes out all the time with his friends and spends $$ on drinks and dinners. He withdrew his 401K again (3rd time) 3 weeks ago because he got turned down for a consolidation loan. Previously, he had been just transferring the debt every so often. Anyway, he withdrew the whole 401K this time, paid down 2 of his 9 high interest cards but then a week ago, the transmission in his car went and he needed to charge up 2K again to fix it because he has no cash.

The people who get upset with me when I don't want to spend the $$ to go out to bars and restaurants with them but then proceed to tell me they are broke annoy me also. It's like, "Of course you're broke! You drink and eat away half your paycheck!" UGH! Then they get mad that I don't come party with them. But when I (rarely) use cash to vacation somewhere nice or buy something nice I get the "oh it must be nice to have money" speech. I make less than most of them.

Well, unfortunately, since I'm the only one who drives a car in my party... I guess I drive myself crazy?

Semi-seriously though, my ex drives me crazy when she doesn't want to be reasonable.

        My grandmother... She meddles.

My sister... She is a spendthrift.

And for the not financial related stuff:

People who ask me if my fraternal twins are identical and then argue with me about it because "they look exactly alike". They have different hair and hair textures (one has ringlettes and the other one has straight/wavy hair), different builds, different facial shapes, different heights - the twins don't even really look like brothers, they look more like cousins.

LOL. My sister and I are 6 years apart. Growing up, we always heard it - "Are you identical twins???" BEsides the fact there is nothing identical about us. I appreciate the fact that at first glance we must look really alike. IT's only a "first impression" thing. But she's got blue eyes and much lighter hair. Totally different figure, features, etc.

my mom cause she thinks that opening the car door and putting your feet on the pavement even though her butt is still in the car counts as smoking outside the car.

Cashiers that make comments on your purchases at the checkout.

Salespeople that try to make chitchat when you're looking at clothes/shoes etc. If I haven't asked you for help, leave me alone!

People who let their dogs (off the leash) run up to mine (who are on a leash) when I'm on a walk and then when their dog starts to growl at mine, they amble up slowly and say 'oh, sorry' while I have to drag my two away and their dog continues to follow us.

Religious folk who 'sell' door-to-door. I'm sorry, but does that even work, with anyone? Because if I wanted to join a religion, I would most likely NOT join the one that knocked on my door on a Saturday morning at 8am. Call me crazy!

My in laws but especially my Father-in-Law. He is worse than any bad mother-in-law. Dependency ruins alot of people. They won't be responsible for their own actions.

My neighbor who borrowed against her 401K to finish her basement (with high-end finishings). She can't afford to pay her mortgage so she thought that, if she finished her basement, her house would appraise with enough equity so she can refinance at a lower rate and finally be able to afford her mortgage. All the while her credit is suffering because she can't pay her bills. Don't have a heart to tell her that, with her credit, she may still not be eligible for a lower rate...

Hard sell salesman who won't accept no for an answer. I have said words to them that I reserve for the biggest A-holes and you still can't make them go away(ok, sometimes) but I'd rather not deal with them that way.

teenage daughter who instead of moving the car so she could get the garbage from the back yard (houses too close together) dragged it accross the hood of the car causeing $400 worth of scratched paint. havent figured out how because she hasn't a job yet, but she IS paying for it even if it has to be slave labor.

I'm sorry. Some of you may like him, but he gets under my skin.

I find most of his financial advice.............ummm.............incomplete?

No one really...I mean sure plenty of people are ...morons

But 'grant me the serenity to accept those things that I cannot change' -I am pretty sure I cannot change anyone, 'cept maybe my kids. So no one else is worth getting really annoyed at.

though I do have my rant sessions over each individual moron, just nothing beyond a "would you believe the idiocy!"
