    I give up for now.

As I've posted awhile back, I've been looking to buy a new pickup truck. For cash.

Almost all these dealers have changed their game. They are pretty much all selling for "invoice". But they tack on "doc fees" of anywhere from $300 to $600. They aren't upfront about this and want to spring it on you after you've made your deal. And they won't budge on it either - they say it's dictated by "corporate". Yeah, whatever.

And if you want to just order a truck - full list price. Incentives aren't applied until the time of delivery - so if there aren't any then, you are just out of luck!

The only maker that seems to be cutting a decent deal is Chevrolet (below invoice). I got burned bad on my last GM and will NEVER buy another.

So I'm gonna sit tight until the gas prices go up this summer and see what's out there again. Maybe they'll change their tune then. I'm also keeping my eye out for 1-2 year old used trucks too.

    Does not sound reasonable.

Have you identified what make and model truck you are looking for? If so hit the internet and see who will get realistic with you.

I've been thru all the brands. I've tried online, I've tried the local dealers, I've tried dealers within a 200 mile radius. It's exhausting.

I understand they have to make money. The holdback and internal incentives should be enough.

I normally email a whole bunch of dealers with information on the vehicle I want and tell them to give me their out the door price, which includes taxes and all fees. I let them know I am shopping them around with other dealers and that I am looking to buy right away, for cash. I've bought my last two cars and three motorcycles that way (only works on new).
