  • Can I move my roth IRA?

I only have a little $ in cash reserves...have not invested it yet. This year will be the first year that I am maxing it out. It is with Fidelity right now...but I think I want to use Vanguard instead. Should I open another account there? Or do I need to stick with Fidelity?

    Thanks!

    You have 3 choices:
    1. Keep it where it is.
    2. Keep the account you have and open a new account at Vanguard.
    3. Move your current account to Vanguard.

If you want to do #3, just give Vanguard a call and they will take care of all the transfer details.

Just curious - why do you want to leave Fidelity for Vanguard? I ask because I've currently got my Roth IRA and an individual investment account with Fidelity. I've always been satisfied with the service, but I want to make sure I'm not missing out on something here ...

I want to put my roth IRA in a target fund...and I think I want it in the vnguard 2040 instead of the fidelity one. thats all.

In that case, I'd just move the whole thing over to Vanguard. Should be a simple process and Vanguard will facilitate it for you.
