There is a difference between tax breaks and tax credits. I have no problems with tax breaks, but when you start taking money from one to give to another...that starts setting up a gray area.

I know a couple that paid in $2,000 in income taxes and besides getting that money back, they are getting additional $9,000. Where is that money coming from?

You want welfare, you agree to clean a stretch of the highway 5 times a month, or mow the grass for the city hall and library. Actually, if they are going to tax me to pay you for sitting on your butt, come mow my grass and clean my toilets while I am driving and working 10 hours a day.
So you want the government to compete with working people by taking jobs from workers to give to welfare recipients?

Where is the sense in that? Please try to think through your proposals; you are throwing someone onto welfare/unemployment to make a mother leave her children and go to work for a pittance?

Keep in mind that income tax is not the only tax on income that goes into the general fund. FICA goes into the general fund along with income taxes so it is not true that they did not pay any taxes into the fund.

It is a common misconception/disengenuosity that 40% of the population does not pay taxes.

Yes, storm doors "count", don't believe what you hear on talk radio:

Federal Tax Credits for Energy Efficiency : ENERGY STAR

this is federal, not for rentals, not for installation costs, and there are some efficiency requirements.
