I know it's been a while since I posted.
I doubt I will ever retire at 55. But the chances of retiring at 63 is 99.999999% sure which should put out finances/pension at very good financial footing. I want to live my "life" that I missed each and every day while working during the day. Not so much, that I want to do many things at retirement, but the ability to spend more quality and the enjoyment of doing things that my wife and I can't enjoy, like having a picnic basket lunch at the park. The ability to travel anywhere for days on end without hurrying back home. Ability to do things, not because I "have" to, but because I "want" to.Got debt?

Why do I want to retire early? Because I like to do things in my own time and in my own way without a boss telling me what to do. Also enjoy doing nothing sometimes. I guess I'm a bit of a rebel in that I don't like anyone telling me what to do. It just goes against my grain. Plus I have a condition that makes it quite difficult to work. Disorganized thinking, difficulty understanding, easily stressed out ect...

Then maybe you should have ran for office. Ever think of that??? You could have made a difference but then again its easier to put the blame on someone else.
Then perhaps Obama should stop blaming Bush for everything and buckle down.

Uh-oh, did this turn ugly? It was just an Obama joke-attempt. It never crossed my mind that it might offend anybody on here. I guess I always figured savers to be Republican, as I can't fathom how someone focused on saving their money, & getting their own financial lives in order, can be OK with politicians taking it to give to others.
(I know I shouldn't hit "Post" right now with that last line, but I'm gonna do it anyway as soon as I put my suit of armor on ... OK, got it. Go!)

On topic, I don't want to retire early, but I would like to find work that is fun and challenging to me. Even if I could retire early, I suspect that I would get bored very quickly.Last edited by Broken Arrow; 01-13-2010, 06:50 AM.
