seaar2000, I wasn't disagreeing with you. I admire folks who get off their butts and do what they have to do to make it in the world. I've had patients who wanted me to fill out their disability forms and I refused because I couldn't see any valid reason why they couldn't work. I have mentally handicapped patients who work. I have physically handicapped patients who work. I have amputee patients who work. I have patients with all manner of disabilities who work. Don't tell me you can't work because you broke your ankle 10 years ago and it still hurts.

disney steve I didn't think you were disagreeing with me. It's just when I hear stories like these and were suppose to feel sorry for them it just burns me up! Just a very touchy subject with me.

You've hit on something there. I work at a restaurant/motel and we put out ads for help for housekeepers and servers, and nobody applies. Our area has one of the highest unemployment rates in our state. You mean to tell me there is no person that wants even part-time work? We can only assume they don't want to work because it will mess up their benefits.

This is the whole point of govt dependence. By giving you a crumb to barely subsist, you have to keep coming back but then live in fear of losing that crumb. And, the laws are made in a way to PROMOTE govt dependence so that if you do try to better yourself you lose what little you have to begin with. The govt WANTS you to depend on them. If you depend on yourself, you dont' need politicians. It is in their interest to keep people in and promote this.
So, you either are stuck with the crumb until you can find something to replace it and more or you work under the table. But, then working part time doesn't make any sense as it risks the benefits and offers no real hope of a solution.
